Firmament 1502 — Glasswork Rose
Part of the glass here is shaped like a large rose flower. It is roughly
30 feet in diameter and 20 feet high. There is an incredible level of
lifelike detail to it. When the sun shines on it, the light refracts
into a beautiful series of rainbows. A full day of observation would
reveal that the rose subtly moves to follow the movement of the sun
across the sky, and closes slightly at night.
Pallas (she/her), a Devil
formerly of Riccamino, lives here, a being that resembles a small
human-legged fish with two large halves of oyster shell dangling from
her back like vestigial wings. She has declared herself caretaker of the
rose, a task she is devoted to. She will happily share stories of how
she came to be here — over a century ago, she escaped Riccamino with a
band of her kindred, many seeking a way to free even more from the
ever-rising city. They were unfortunately scattered by various
misfortunes before any plans could come to fruition. Pallas herself came
to the firmament by the superstructure by ascending the cosmic miasma in
1110 after having sunk to the equivalent hex in the Gardens Below. She
can explain the mechanism to do so.
Pallas suspects that one of the Spiderweb-Goddesses is responsible for
the rose, though none will claim credit for it. She thinks of them as
irresponsible for abandoning it.
