1211 — Prospector’s Campsite
On an island of solid earth amidst the swampland sits the campsite of
Roderick (he/him), a prospector from Catage. He owns a sturdy tent that
shows signs of being repaired extensively by hand, a variety of digging
equipment, a fishing pole and gear, a 1-handed mace, a pistol and 17
bullets, a shield, a pack mule named Beech, and a warm wool coat dyed
brick red.
His findings have been meagre — he set out into the wilds hoping to
discover a wealth of untapped mineral resources he could sell to the
wealthy of Catage, but has been forced to reckon with the fact that the
land is not as untouched and pristine as he hoped. Exploring the
mountains has revealed already extant mines that show all signs of
having been abandoned when the resources sought after dried up. He had
not considering the fact that thriving civilizations dwelled here prior
to the closing of Catage’s walls, and has not had the good fortune to
stumble across any veins of precious metal those ancient miners
missed.
Roderick is considering journeying further in the hopes of reversing his
luck, but has also begun spinning another scheme: selling the wealthy of
Catage on the value of visiting the wilds for constitutional benefits.
He would willingly share this scheme with any party that seems suitably
willing to engage in some snake oil salesmanship. He also would not pass
up a chance to offer some services for sale to reasonably successful
treasure hunters: he has a reasonable grasp of field medicine and can
appraise the value of most metals and stones.
